Chances are Good that You, Too, Have Trouble Falling Asleep
It’s a fact that many people have trouble falling asleep at night and don’t have the luxury of getting the amount and quality of sleep that they need, even when they try to.
It’s not clear why, while some people can fall asleep at the drop of a hat, others toss and turn trying to catch a good night’s sleep.
Part of the blame lies on this wired world that we live in. Twenty-four hour internet access, ATM machines that never sleep, all-night drive-ins that are happy to dispense caffeine-laden drinks at all hour of the day and night. And we are happy to oblige.
Unfortunately, we pay for our lack of sleep the next day…..at work, at school, behind the wheel of our cars. Short tempers, lack of focus, lack of energy, are all results of our inability to get refreshing sleep at night.
There are many factors that influence how well we sleep. Assuming that physical pain is not among these, we can almost safely say that managing our stress, diet, physical and mental fitness can greatly reduce our sleep problems.
Realizing this, we can take steps to pinpoint the root cause of our trouble falling asleep, and move forward to eliminate — or at least minimize — those causes, to help us sleep peacefully and refreshingly.
